Forum on “THE U.S. ECONOMIC CRISES” Thursday, November 10, 2011, 8 p.m. with Congressman Jerrold Nadler and author Jeff Madrick, moderated by VID’s Tony Hoffman.

Please join us as Congressmen Nadler updates Democrats on what is going on in Washington as vital decisions are reached that will affect our economic future and the 2012 elections.

Jeff Madrick will provide incisive analysis of this Age of Greed. Washington Post Book Review, July 2011.

Thanks to the wonderful petitioners, most of the 66th Assembly District has no Democratic Primary on September 13. That means we will be your District Leaders for two more years. We are very grateful.
Of all the 62 Election Districts on the 66th, Part A (our turf), only six will be open for voting on Primary day, Sept. 13.

There is also a Civil Court race(3rd District) in the north side of our district. Three of our EDs are involved: 102, 103 (voting at the LGBT center), and 116 (which votes at PS 70). This race is between Tony Cannataro and Sabrina Kraus. VID endorsed Tony Cannataro as did the New York Times.

Immediately downtown (66th Part B) all the EDs have a District Leader race between David Reck(incumbent, husband of VID, v.p., Eli Hausknecht) and John Scott. Many VID people will be involved.

We have been asked to provide volunteers for an event to help the NYC environment: a white roof painting of buildings in the East Village which have been identified by the organization FAB (Fourth Arts Block). The painting will take place on August 20th and 21st between 9:00 am and 3:00 pm on both days. The event is being organized by Manhattan Young Democrats, so many of their members would be present at the event. Please advise if you are interested and can give a few hours. District Leader Keen Berger is looking for poll workers who will be able to take the training and work at the polls on election day. Please contact VID if you are able to be a poll worker.

The VID headquarters at 26 Perry Street will be staffed by VID members during the following hours to receive your petitions. Please bring them in for clearing, and for filling out and signing the witness statements.

Monday thru Friday 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.Saturday 11 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.Sunday 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

If you have not signed up to get petition signatures and would like to gather signatures for our candidates, come by the VID headquarters during any of these hours and you will be given petitions and instructions. If you have questions, or just want to check in, please feel free to drop by the office during staffed hours to say hello and have your questions answered.
We need to have all petitions returned to VID no later than July 9. But if you have completed petitions do not wait to turn them in.
