			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>At the January 12th membership meeting, the Village Independent Democrats passed a <a href="http://www.villagedemocrats.org/wp-content/uploads/2012/01/VID-res-opp-mil-deten-.pdf" target="_blank">resolution</a> calling upon the US Senate and House of Representatives to repeal and remove the provision of the National Defense Administration Act (NDAA) that authorizes the President to indefinitely detain American Citizens arrested on U.S. soil.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Our next VID General Membership meeting is <strong><span style="text-decoration: underline;">Thursday, April 14, 2011, at 6:30 p.m. at St. Marks Church, East 10th Street and 2nd Avenue</span></strong> in Parish Hall (after entering the main St. Marks gate, follow path on right toward the rear entry at back of the main building). We have a very exciting program with a panel discussing bicycles in New York City, called <strong>&#8220;Bikes, Bikers and Bike Lanes&#8221;</strong>. It was assembled and organized by Nadine Hoffmann. This meeting is open to non-members, so please invite your friends and get out the word.<br />
The panel presentation will begin at 7:00 p.m. Panelists: Paul S. White, Executive Director, Transportation Alternatives; Nancy Gruskin, Founder, the Gruskin Family Foundation, and Tony Juliano, President and Chair, Greenwich Village-Chelsea Chamber of Commerce.</p>
