Tour To Save Democracy

Pro-democracy Gen Z activists have announced a summer "Tour to Save Democracy," traveling by bus in July to 24 swing districts to help elect Democrats. The tour, founded by Sam Schwartz, the cousin of a student murdered in the Parkland shooting, is determined to mobilize young voters by addressing issues like the climate crisis, mass shootings, and a national abortion ban. The coalition, involving over 25 organizations such as College Democrats of America and Voto Latino, seeks to flip Republican districts blue to achieve a Democratic majority in Congress.

Last week, three hundred people joined a Zoom event on Thursday evening to raise funds for The Tour to Save Democracy. Hosted by several organizations, including Markers for Democracy and Downtown Nasty Women Social Group, Team MIN, Jessica Craven, and Robert Hubbell, the event featured discussions with Tour leaders who spoke passionately about issues they care deeply about, like gun violence, reproductive rights, and affordable healthcare. They emphasized the importance of viewing young people as serious partners in the political process. More on Tour to Save Democracy here and link to donate to the effort here.
