Our next 6th Precinct Community Council Meeting will take place on Wednesday, September 24th at 6:30 PM at Our Lady of Pompeii, Father Demo Hall.
6th Precinct Community Council Mission Statement
The mission of the 6th Precinct Community Council is to strengthen the partnership between the NYPD and the Greenwich Village community by fostering open dialogue, addressing public safety and quality-of-life concerns, and building trust through collaboration. We celebrate the service of our officers and work with residents, businesses, and local organizations to ensure Greenwich Village remains a safe, connected, and vibrant neighborhood for all.
We are a new council and plan to build on last year's successes but to conduct our meetings a little differently. We all recognize that major crime is down but also acknowledge the quality-of-life issues affecting our community and share the frustration. The role of the council is to serve as a facilitator—helping residents, the police, and city agencies work together to find solutions. Angry rhetoric and finger-pointing will not advance the agenda; constructive dialogue will move us forward.
Meeting Guidelines:
- Everyone must sign in at the door, including your email address (even if you believe we already have it).
- There will be no sign-in speakers list. If you would like to raise an issue, please email us at [email protected]at least 3 days before the meeting with a detailed description of the issue. This will allow us to prioritize pressing concerns, group similar issues, and ensure those responsible are prepared with meaningful responses.
- There will still be opportunities during the meeting to ask questions and raise concerns.
- Please note: Because we are in an election cycle, neither candidates nor their representatives will be permitted to speak (per Community Council rules).
We will also pass around clipboards for those interested in volunteering for upcoming 6PCC activities, including the holiday party, graffiti clean-up, street beautification, and more.
