Join us for an Earth Day on Tuesday, April 22nd, from 12pm-1pm for a rally on the steps of City Hall (Reade St./Broadway) in support of passing the NY HEAT Act. The event will feature the NY HEAT Act’s lead sponsors, Senator Liz Krueger and Assembly Member Jo Anne Simon, along with other elected officials. Sponsored by Food & Water Watch.
The NY HEAT Act is the top climate priority of New York's environmental movement, with its promise of lower energy bills while eliminating massive subsidies to the fracked gas industry. Many environmental advocacy groups like Food & Water Watch and New Yorkers for Clean Power are requesting that people contact their assemblymember or State Senator to make the NY HEAT Act a budget priority.
As New Yorkers contend with the threats of climate change and rising costs of living, the rally will highlight the need for making energy more affordable while moving off fossil fuels.
