Join the Upper West Side Action Group at their regular meeting for training. The aim of the project is to help local businesses prepare for and respond to ICE raids. Working in pairs, we visit businesses block by block, walking owners, managers, and employees through what to do now to protect themselves, what to do if ICE comes, what to do in case of detentions, and where to find additional resources

Description of training

Our October group meeting's guest speaker is Laura Ayala of Inwood Indivisible. She will be explaining the Immigrant Protection Business Outreach Project she initiated with a coalition uptown [similar to but more in-depth than Indivisible's Signs for Solidarity] and training us to extend the initiative to the UWS (as other grassroots groups are doing in other parts of the city). Using detailed, multilingual materials created by her group in consultation with attorneys from Make the Road and other immigration organizations, we will learn how to call on owners, managers, and employees at their work sites and walk them through: what to do now to protect themselves, what to do if ICE comes, what to do in case of detentions, and where to find additional resources. There will be a 60-minute training session that includes multilingual scripts and role-playing practice. This is for everyone who is either planning to do this work or is seriously considering it. Join us are we build grassroots power for all the fights to come. Together, we can defeat the anti-democratic movement within the Republican party, dismantle the GOP's advantage in key swing states, and maintain and expand Democratic power at the federal level.
