Mandatory Composting Starts October 6 in all 5 boroughs!
Don't get fined for not composting.
Whether you rent or own, live in a single-family building or a building with hundreds of units, you’re eligible to compost
Composting is an important step in reducing NYC’s carbon footprint. Right now, one-third of what New Yorkers throw away is food scraps and yard waste. Instead of sitting in landfills, compost can be used as fertilizer, to power wastewater treatment systems, and for heating homes.
