National Clothing Swap Day, December 6: Communities nationwide will host clothing swaps on December 6, free, low-waste events where people trade clothing they no longer use. It’s an easy way to extend the life of garments and reduce consumption. Learn more about how to host a swap here.
Celebrate the holiday season this year by hosting your own clothing swap for National Clothing Swap Day!
On Saturday, December 6, people across the country will organize clothing swaps in their communities. Clothing swaps are events where people bring items of clothing they don’t wear anymore and give them a second life by swapping them with family, friends and neighbors for something new-to-them. These events are a fun, free way to keep our clothing in use for longer, reduce waste, and opt out of the idea that we always need to be buying more and more new stuff — a pressure many of us feel during the holiday season.
When you register to participate, we will send you a step-by-step guide to hosting a clothing swap, a short survey for you to fill out to give us more details about your event, and information for a virtual kickoff event we’re hosting on Thursday, November 20 at 10:00 a.m. PT/1:00 p.m. ET where we will share tips and resources to help make sure your clothing swap is a success.
