Petitioning Recap. It's a Wrap!
It's been quite a month for petitioning. The weather wasn't what we had hoped for, but as usual, VID members persevered, and we collected an amazing 1,500 signatures!
We want to send a heartfelt thanks to all who participated and our stalwart endorsees who showed up week in and week out! June 25 primaries, here we come!
A special shout out to Tony Hoffmann, Petitioning Chair; Daniel Palmisano, Co-Chair; and David Siffert and Dan Palmisano for organizing our East side petitioning efforts.
Petitioning is Fun (if it was 78 degrees and sunny)
VID showed its resilience and dedication today (Saturday, March 9th ). For three and a half
hours we were out collecting signatures and campaigning to get our endorsed candidates on the
ballot in some very nasty weather. It was cold and windy but VID was not deterred! Even though
we were scheduled to start at 10:00 AM Laura Morrison was out at Abingdon Square with her
long, green sheets gathering signatures and singing the praises of our endorsed candidates.
Not long after Laura started she was joined by David Saperstein and Dr. Gil Horowitz.
At 10:00 AM when we were first setting up the official VID table with our election wares Laura
and her team were wrapping it up. For the next two hours VID’ers came and braved the
elements in search of that rare precious commodity, a registered Democrat who lives below 14th
Street and remembers how to produce a cursive signature. A big shout out goes to our hearty
petitioners: NY Assemblymember Deborah Glick, NY State Senator Brian Kavanagh, Allison Greenfield, Emily Leng, Mindy Rosier, Jonathan Geballe, State Committeeperson Rachel Lavine, Patrick MacGernick, Steven Benathen, Irene
Kaufman, Sara Kimbell, Judith Jacobson and Tony Hoffmann.
On Sunday, March 10th, nine more stalwarts gathered signatures on the East Side at Westside Market.
A spirited shout out goes to our East Side petitioning leaders Daniel Palmisano and David Siffert
and their team: VID District Leader Jen Hoppe, Melissa Carty, Crystal Villasenor, Sarah Batchu, Sandra Newman,
Steven Park, and Zach (friend of VID).
We can be proud of ourselves. In less than ideal conditions twenty five people came out and petitioned for VID.
For the rest of March VID will be petitioning every Saturday on the West Side from 10:00 AM-
12:00 noon at Abingdon Sq. and on the East Side from 11:00 AM-1:00 PM at Westside Market
(3 rd Ave between 11 th & 12 th Streets).
Come join the fun. If you know ahead of time please let us know. For additional information, click HERE.
Respectfully,
Tony Hoffmann, Campaign Chair
Daniel Palmisano, Petitioning Chair
