VID will hold a special candidate forum and endorsement meeting in response to late-breaking developments affecting the current election cycle.

While VID anticipated a vacancy in NYC Council District 3 following Erik Bottcher’s election to the NYS Senate (District 47), the timing of the council special election was recently only officially announced.  In addition, NYS Senator Brian Kavanagh’s decision not to seek reelection created an unexpected open seat in NYS Senate District 27.

Given the February 24 petitioning deadline, an additional forum and endorsement vote is necessary to ensure there is sufficient time to print and circulate petitions.
