Mark has served the public in numerous roles throughout his career, first as a public school teacher, then as a Member of the City Council. Currently he serves as Manhattan Borough President, fighting for real New Yorkers every day. He has the passion, experience, and energy needed to help New York continue our recovery from the COVID shutdown and thrive in the 21st century.

In his current role as Manhattan Borough President, Mark has worked tirelessly to build a future for New York City that works for all. He proposed a comprehensive plan to spur housing development and end the housing supply shortage harming all NYC households. He investigated the behavioral health crisis plaguing the City on a holistic level and is seeking solutions to protect some of the most vulnerable in our communities. To address the issue of lingering sidewalk sheds and scaffolding that remain up for years at a time, Mark has devised a program aimed at helping buildings make repairs faster so those structures can be removed sooner. These are just some of the important initiatives Mark is working on in his current role.
