The aim of the project is to help local businesses prepare for and respond to ICE raids. Working in pairs, we visit businesses block by block, walking owners, managers, and employees through what to do now to protect themselves, what to do if ICE comes, what to do in case of detentions, and where to find additional resources.
Begun by Inwood Indivisible in coalition with other uptown groups, with multilingual materials they developed in consultation with lawyers from Make the Road, the campaign has now been adopted by more than a dozen grassroots groups in neighborhoods around NYC and has reached well over a thousand local businesses.
Please see this excellent recording of a recent online training Erica Vladimer did for Four Freedoms and others. It lays things out really clearly and is great advance prep for anyone coming to the in-person training and/or catch-up for anyone who misses it and still wants to join in.
All are welcome! Join us to see what it's all about! The RSVP link for 11/15 will be posted soon and the outreach program will take place between 1-3pm in the Union Square area. Stay tuned!
